The New York Film Academy film school programs are designed for a new generation of storytellers: visual artists who share a passion for motion pictures and want to learn by making their own projects in a hands-on, intensive program.

Our students come from across the United States and all over the world to learn and work together in short-term workshops or one and two-year degree programs. In the creation of our curricula, we worked with faculty and professionals from around the world. We adapted the best ideas and elements from the leading film school programs and designed intensive and accelerated alternatives that provide a thorough grounding in the craft.

DIGITAL FILM SCHOOL

SHORT-TERM WORKSHOPS:

A Hands-On Digital Filmmaking School

In the New York Film Academy Digital Film School, in addition to writing, producing, directing, and editing your own projects, you will assist other students as a member of their crew in the roles of director of photography, assistant cameraperson, and gaffer/grip, providing everyone with extensive set experience. Your teachers will demystify the craft of digital film production and challenge you to use the medium to its best advantage.

NYFA offers four and twelve week intensive workshops and a one week specialized movie and music video camp.

Build Your Network

In this business, who you know is as important as what you know. Meet and work with an incredibly diverse, international group of students who share the same passion for film. The combination of non-stop collaborative work, diverse cultures and experiences make our school an intensely enriching experience. Students forge bonds, both professional and personal, that often extend beyond the school. Students often say that the Academy's workshop or program was the most exciting, difficult, and rewarding creative experience they have ever had.

Use the Best Equipment

Our students shoot on the Panasonic DVX 100 digital video camera and edit on Final Cut Pro with Macintosh computers. This equipment is comparable to that of the leading degree programs at film schools across the United States. NYFA is the only school in the world making available to students the new RED HD camera, used to shoot the blockbuster films, Jumper, Angels and Demons and Crossing the Line among others.

Universal Studios' exclusive prop and costume collection that regularly supplies Hollywood blockbusters is made available at a special student rate to NYFA students at our Universal Studios location.

Create Work That Matters

At the conclusion of all workshops, a screening of the students' final projects is held, providing a unique opportunity for family and friends to see the work students have produced. Students retain the digital master tapes of their work to include in their portfolios. Each student, upon successful completion of the program, receives a diploma.
